誠~ Sei or Makoto…Sincerity

Sincerity ~ noun
1- the quality of being free from pretense, deceit, or hypocrisy.

Sincerity is a mix of genuineness
and honesty. Being your true authentic self. If you do things with sincerity, people will trust you, students and colleagues will respect you. Along with patience and compassion, sincerity is one of those qualities we all probably wish we had more of — and wish other people had more of, too. People who show sincerity are being serious, caring, kind, and truthful. Sincerity is the complete opposite of hypocrisy.

The definition of a hypocrite is a person who pretends to have certain beliefs, attitudes or feelings when they really do not. An example of a hypocrite is; a person who speaks and presents themselves as a martial art expert, but has little practical knowledge, or tradition-based background. A sincere person speaks from experience and is peppered with self-doubts. Empirical experience is a bumpy ride. An insincere person tries to present opinions as the complete truth. Often bending the truth for personal needs. “Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge.” ~ Charles Darwin

Sincerity listens
but does not hear
when arguments lie
in hate and fear.
